SERGE and ANNIE

I never imagined myself getting married….let alone getting engaged after 5 weeks then marrying after 5 months to a French guy! Just like the movies hey……younger guy, he’s French……wow! We met at the local pub, we got engaged at the local pub and after our hen’s night and buck’s night we got banned from the local pub…..but that’s another story!  

My name is Annie and I’m 28, my husband’s name is Serge and he is 24. The night Serge met my father was the night he asked my father for my hand in marriage. Boy was Dad shocked!.....and again that’s another story! Serge’s family, including his mum, his step-dad, his brother and his brother’s fiancé all came to Australia for the big day. I had never met his family so it was a very exciting time for me and for my family to meet them and we would all join and become one big happy family.

We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding. It was quite small, beautiful and just so special! Our wedding was set in the beautiful surroundings of the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. What made it even more beautiful was that it had been raining for approximately 2 weeks up until our wedding day. Everything was so green. It was just magnificent! We never rehearsed our wedding. We didn’t see the point. Its something you only do once in your life. What’s meant to be is meant to be. We just went for it. Absolutely nothing went wrong…..well except for the heals of my shoes sinking into the wet soil under the grass after 2 weeks of rain but who cares, the backdrop of our wedding was stunning!

our wedding day is one of the most special days you will experience in your life. The whole day is about you and your husband to be. I absolutely loved having someone do my hair and make-up, having the most wonderful photos taken, photos that you will cherish forever. Our wedding day was perfect to us. If we could do it all over again we would not change a single thing. Having your family and closest friends around you to share one of the most special days in your life is a blast! You don’t invite people because you want to have a massive wedding. You invite people who you know will remember your special day just the way you will. Our favourite part of the day was of course marrying each other but also to look out and see our families and our closest friends look at us with tears in their eyes, with big smiles on their faces and to be so happy for both of us.

 Then of course the after party! ….and then to top it all off, when we saw the wedding photos it just made everything perfect….the icing on the cake. Thanks so much Robert for capturing the most special day in our lives! Newly wed advice: All we can say is don’t hold back, go for it! If you meet someone that makes you feel so special, like you are the only one in the world, who you know would do anything for you and you would do anything for them…..hold on tight and don’t let them go, no matter what!
